Blurryface

Twenty One Pilots just came our with their new album titled Blurryface and it is damn amazing. So amazing that Tyler and Josh released it a couple days early because they couldn't wait, and before that were nearly releasing a new song from the album almost every week leading up to the release date (May 19th). I haven't been able to stop listening to it honestly! And waiting for the whole thing to be released was near torture since I could listen to a couple of the released songs but not the whole album together.

While listening to it I made some comparisons in my mind regarding some of the songs, and I may edit this post later to add more opinionated comparisons to this album, but here's some so far.

Heavydirtysoul - it's not the sound of the song, but the title that reminds me of AWOLNATION's Guilty Filthy Soul song, just cause the title is similar.

The Judge - the breakdown to this song, at around 2:30 in, it sounds like it could be a Gavin DeGraw song!

Doubt - absolutely starts off like a song from the Drive soundtrack! This song kind of took me by surprise actually, it is kind of pop-like, but dammit I love it.

Polarize

We Don't Believe What's on TV - something about this song reminds me of Neutral Milk Hotel, probably something about the line where he says 'we'll make money selling your hair', something about that line reminds me of that band. At around 1:45 in when there is a trumpet in the background, I think it's a trumpet, that part reminds me of the band Cake.

Message Man

Hometown - I feel like Tyler sings kind of like The Cure in this one during the chorus.

Not Today - anyone else think of the line from the A Song of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones) where Arya's teacher in the beginning asks her what she says to death? Love that line. Anyway..

Every single one of these songs is so good even on their own. I love this album and so happy it has been released finally!

Spartacus actor again! This time it’s Todd Lasance the man who plays Julius Caesar himself! And damn I would watch an entire show about Julius Caesar if Todd played him!

I knew right away that Todd reminded me of Chris Pine, but his eyes were throwing me off. His eyes are crazy! He has killer eyes, like literally serial killer like eyes, yes in an intimidating holy fuck don’t look at me that way kind of crazy. I could watch Todd Lasance murder people over and over on tv any day just because of his eyes.

But back to the point! He looks like Chris Pine BUT his eyes are like Matt Damon! R pointed out that he felt Todd was a combo of Chris and Matt and I agree! Just I think the eyes are more Matt Damon than anything else. Why is that? Because Matt totally has serial killer eyes too!

Just by solely judging Matt Damon’s eyes I firmly believe if he wasn’t an actor he would be out in the world as a nobody scoping out victims.

I know I’ve almost posted all the characters from the show Spartacus by now, but here’s another!

Ellen Hollman plays the badass female warrior character Saxa in Spartacus. She is insane as a fighter! Love her character. Anyway for a long time watching the episodes (almost done!) I couldn’t place her face. I knew she reminded me of someone but for the life of me I could not think of who it was.

Then it hit me last night, she looks like Jennifer Morrison (from HOUSE M. D. and Once Upon a Time)! There are obvious differences, but for the most part Ellen Hollman definitely reminds me of Jennifer Morrison.

Another actor from Spartacus, another favorite. That show is full of some really great characters honestly!

On the left we have the actor Pana Hema Taylor who plays the character Nasir (Tiberius) in Sparatcus. Every time I see him on screen, the way the light hits his face sometimes, he tends to remind me of Mario Lopez! I know Mario best from when he hosted that ABDC show years ago, though most people remember him from Saved By the Bell.

The photo I chose here of P. H. Taylor makes him look like a worn out tired version of Mario Lopez but still! I can relate the two in my head and am always reminded of Mario when I see Nasir on screen!

Inspiration from Spartacus again! 
Watching Erin Cummings on this show made me think of two other celebrities actually! She totally looks like Megan Fox to me, but also somehow Benedict Cumberbatch , I think it’s the eyes and face shape. Cause her lips are like Megan’s, and so are her eyes sometimes. She’s definitely a mix of the two to me!

R is getting me into Spartacus today, binge watching it until I pass out! 

The character Ashur, played by Nick E. Tarabay, reminds me of Seth Macfarlane. And I am thinking that this is because of the spacing of their eyes. Their eyes are far apart, their noses are completely different, but because of their eye spacing I think of Seth every time I see Nick’s character Ashur on screen.

Also from Robin Hood Men in Tights I felt that the actor Richard Lewis reminded me of Jake Gyllenhaal. 

It’s got to be the eyes here, and the brows, maybe the face shape also. But I couldn’t help but think of Gyllenhaal when I was watching Richard Lewis act hilariously in Robin Hood Men in Tights. 

I guess Gyllenhaal would look like him though, to be more proper.

So R got me watching Robin Hood Men In Tights last night (I know it’s horrible that I haven’t really seen it before!) and the second I saw the actress that plays Maid Marian, Amy Yasbeck, I thought of Rose Byrne! 

I was thinking, damn, she looks like Rose Byrne, but I suppose it would be more appropriate to say that Rose Bryne looks like Amy Yasbeck! 

Either way they totally look like each other, I see so many similarities to one another, their eyes, face, lips, brows… their hair in these photos are very different but I wanted to use a photo of Amy as I saw her in the movie.

While listening to music, R and I either are reminded of other songs, or try to make a connection to other songs as well as what bands they seem to sound like to us.

One of my favorite bands is AWOLNATION. 

While listening to their new stuff one night, R played this song and immediately told me this sounds a lot like Can You Feel The Love Tonight from the Disney movie The Lion King. Totally agree! It’s different of course, but similar enough for R to think of the Lion King while hearing it!

Speaking of the amazing show Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, anyone else get the Lorde (bottom) vibe from  Dylan Gelula’s (top) character Xanthippe? 

Not sure if they truly look alike, but something about the attitude that Xanthippe has and the attitude that Lorde portrays on her face made R and I think of them as somehow similar to one another.. 

Also, Xanthippe? What a Name! 

Edit: after staring at these two photos next to each other for a moment I realize that maybe they do actually kind of sort of look similar.. in some ways. Their face shape is kind of the same. ha.

Lately R and I have been absolutely and completely obsessed with Tina Fey’s new show on Netflix, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which stars Ellie Kemper and every time I watch the show I find myself thinking that Ellie looks like Renee Zellweger, before the plastic surgery of course. 

It’s the eyes! And the expressions that Ellie makes as Kimmy Schmidt, the way she scrunches her face up sometimes (so cute) really makes me think of Zellweger, I just can’t help it, I see the similarities! 

And also, Renee Zellweger doesn’t look bad by any means, but she looks so different now, I don’t really get why she changed her look, she looked amazing already.

This song is a long time favorite of mine! Always love this song when ever I hear it, on purpose or by surprise, it is always fun to sing along with. \

Matt and Kim’s Daylight song came to mind when I heard The Boy Least Likely To’s song Be Gentle With Me, or maybe it was R who pointed this one out, not entirely sure, it was one of us! Ha. 

Anyway, the beats are similar enough in -our- minds that the connection was made. Love it!

Maybe Vincent’s eyes are more squinty though..

Also, when Vincent is bald in Daredevil he then looks nothing like Mark Ruffalo, ha.

Ever have one of those moments where you can’t remember that one song that sounded like this other song you knew but you also can’t remember that one either and it’s been bugging you all day long! And then finally it clicks and you have that sweet relief of hearing it!?

R had this whole process yesterday and it was quite satisfying when he finally remembered what he was comparing in his mind!

Every time R hears a small part in The Shins’ song Saint Simon (2:00 minutes in, from about 2:00-2:05) the melody reminds him of the Marian song from Robin Hood Men In Tights movie, and vice versa. The part in the Marian song that seems to sound really familiar with the Saint Simon song is about 0:14 seconds in where the name Marian is being sung
