R and I were watching Heavy Weights just the other night, a favorite from our childhood. I remember watching that movie so many times on TV haha.

Anyway I thought that the actress that plays the nurse, Leah Lail, looked like a mix between Jenna Fischer from The Office and Mary Elizabeth Winstead from Cloverfield. When I started searching through google images, I also decided she kind of reminds me of Allison Hannigan from Buffy / How I Met Your Mother.

Night Riot

I know it's random.

There's this band called Night Riot, R recently discovered them thank you Spotify!

Their songs remind me of different bands all over the place!

The beginning to their song Nothing Personal reminds me of Twenty One Pilots newer song Lane Boy. When Night Riot's song Nothing Personal beginning starts I sometimes start singing '..they say stay in your lane boy, lane boy.." haha. The beat is different of course, just similar to me.

The beginning to their song Fangs makes me think it could be a kelly clarkson or katy perry song, or some generic pop song actually.
There is something else about this song though that is ringing a bell for me and I can't put my finger on it... I may have to come back to it.

My favorite song of theirs is Contagious and I seriously cannot stop listening to it on repeat. Parts of this song remind me of the way the leader singer sings in Imagine Dragons.

They remind me of Chromeo in their song Work It. The chorus, the way he sings, totally sounds the main guy in Chromeo honestly.

The beginning of their song Don't Kill the Messenger reminds me of a kind of style Yeasayer would go for. Then it feels like it gets almost western styled to me.. then Imagine Dragons in the way he is singing. I keep going back to Imagine Dragons with them! I guess I just really like Dan Reynolds singing style. The breakdown of this song reminds me of Coldplay for some reason..

The ooh's that kick in about one minute into the song Breaking Free remind me of a sound Yeasayer would make also.

Something about the style of their song All For You reminds me of The Cure. Not the chorus though, just the verses.

The beginning of their song Tear Me Apart also reminds me of another sound Yeasayer would have. I just associate interestingly odd with them, and that's what that said to me.
The title of the song, and only the title, just makes me think of the band She Wants Revenge. I don't know of any sound similarities between them though.

Their song Pull Me Down reminds me of something, I know it, I just can't figure out what it is.. it's another one of my favorites. The whole album is just amazing actually, their album Love Gloom that is, which is where all these songs are from.

Their song Everything Will Be Alright and something about how it starts in a small way reminds me of Brand New, but like acoustic. Just how it opens.
And then the rest of the song reminds me of Coldplay song. Just something about it..

Something about their song End of the World gives me a Bear Hands vibe..

In their last song As You Are the breakdown around two minutes forty seconds in when he starts singing "..you're all I need.." reminds me of ColdPlay's song 'Fix You' breakdown. Ha.

I'll come back if I think of more similarities to other songs!

Dead Direction

Ryan Reynolds
Nick Jonas

Anyone else see the resemblance to Ryan Reynolds and Nick Jonas!?

I was watching the music video for Nick's new song Levels and I could not stop thinking about how much I think he looks like Reynolds, like maybe with a more round face (especially in his music video his face looks much more round).

Nick Jonas has become Round Reynolds to me. Yup.

Blurryface

Twenty One Pilots just came our with their new album titled Blurryface and it is damn amazing. So amazing that Tyler and Josh released it a couple days early because they couldn't wait, and before that were nearly releasing a new song from the album almost every week leading up to the release date (May 19th). I haven't been able to stop listening to it honestly! And waiting for the whole thing to be released was near torture since I could listen to a couple of the released songs but not the whole album together.

While listening to it I made some comparisons in my mind regarding some of the songs, and I may edit this post later to add more opinionated comparisons to this album, but here's some so far.

Heavydirtysoul - it's not the sound of the song, but the title that reminds me of AWOLNATION's Guilty Filthy Soul song, just cause the title is similar.

Stressed Out
Ride
Fairly Local
Tear In My Heart
Lane Boy

The Judge - the breakdown to this song, at around 2:30 in, it sounds like it could be a Gavin DeGraw song!

Doubt - absolutely starts off like a song from the Drive soundtrack! This song kind of took me by surprise actually, it is kind of pop-like, but dammit I love it.

Polarize

We Don't Believe What's on TV - something about this song reminds me of Neutral Milk Hotel, probably something about the line where he says 'we'll make money selling your hair', something about that line reminds me of that band. At around 1:45 in when there is a trumpet in the background, I think it's a trumpet, that part reminds me of the band Cake.

Message Man

Hometown - I feel like Tyler sings kind of like The Cure in this one during the chorus.

Not Today - anyone else think of the line from the A Song of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones) where Arya's teacher in the beginning asks her what she says to death? Love that line. Anyway..

Goner

Every single one of these songs is so good even on their own. I love this album and so happy it has been released finally!

Killer Blue Eyes

Todd Lasance
Chris Pine
Matt Damon

Sometimes when watching TV shows or movies, R and I like to compare celebrities either to other celebrities or to people we know.

Spartacus actor again! This time it’s Todd Lasance the man who plays Julius Caesar himself! And damn I would watch an entire show about Julius Caesar if Todd played him!
I knew right away that Todd reminded me of Chris Pine, but his eyes were throwing me off. His eyes are crazy! He has killer eyes, like literally serial killer like eyes, yes in an intimidating holy fuck don’t look at me that way kind of crazy. I could watch Todd Lasance murder people over and over on tv any day just because of his eyes.
But back to the point! He looks like Chris Pine BUT his eyes are like Matt Damon! R pointed out that he felt Todd was a combo of Chris and Matt and I agree! Just I think the eyes are more Matt Damon than anything else. Why is that? Because Matt totally has serial killer eyes too!
Just by solely judging Matt Damon’s eyes I firmly believe if he wasn’t an actor he would be out in the world as a nobody scoping out victims.

Saxa a Time

Ellen Hollman
Jennifer Morrison

Sometimes when watching TV shows or movies, R and I like to compare celebrities either to other celebrities or to people we know.

I know I’ve almost posted all the characters from the show Spartacus by now, but here’s another!
Ellen Hollman plays the badass female warrior character Saxa in Spartacus. She is insane as a fighter! Love her character. Anyway for a long time watching the episodes (almost done!) I couldn’t place her face. I knew she reminded me of someone but for the life of me I could not think of who it was.
Then it hit me last night, she looks like Jennifer Morrison (from HOUSE M. D. and Once Upon a Time)! There are obvious differences, but for the most part Ellen Hollman definitely reminds me of Jennifer Morrison.
